Yu+co is a film production company specializing in trailers, commercials, and visual effects. Moving anidea from one medium to another brings each mediums particular qualities as well as the structure and form of the media itself.
Yu+co distills large complex stories into smaller more digestable ones (trailers, film title sequences, etc.) Quicker, faster, easier to ‘read’. Through this compression, layers of information are added for instance, think of a story as a large cardboard box. We compress the box by sitting on it. The box now is now minimized in one direction (the height, or metaphorically the length of the story) while lengthening in one direction together unfold and gaining new meaning and function. Through the process of compression it’s properties are changed and rearranged.
The interface for yuco.com revolves around a singular collapsing and expanding dandelion form- a visual metaphor for the companies flexible and organic creative process. Each ‘petal’ acts as a button, once pressed a stem grows and displays it’s contents. Very similiar to a wireframe or brainstorming map, the flower structure becomes just as functional as it is beautiful.
